Toronto FC Undefeated

February 17, 2007

Well, they’ve only played two games against slightly less skilled opposition, but they’re still undefeated.  It was mentioned before when they won their first game against Florida International University with a goal from Colombian International Hector Hurtado.  Their second game was played yesterday against local amateur team Honduras Five-Star.  Thankfully they won three - nil, as anything less would be a bit embarrassing.

At the end of the first-half, with mostly veteran players on the pitch, the score was still locked up in a draw.  It was the second-half when the new guys came out that the score line started to change.  The first came from Garfield Reid, a Jamaican  International in the fiftieth minute from long range.

Hunter West, a 2007 Draft Pick, scored the remaining two Toronto goals with in a five minute span.  The first coming from Canadian native Andrea Lombardo.  West’s second goal came from an assist by Colombian Hector Hurtado.  Hurtado is clearly making his presence at the Grey’s preseason camp known with a deciding goal in his first match, and an assist in his second.

Maurice Edu, Alecko Eskandarian, and Ronnie O’Brien were all out with injuries, but a name not mentioned is that of Jose Cancela.  He is currently not on the injury list, but he is at camp.  Where he is, what he is doing is unknown at the moment and the team is surely looking forward to Cancela’s return.

Toronto Line-up: Ist Half: Greg Sutton, Marco Reda, Andrew Boyens, Adam Braz, Chris Pozniak, Joey Melo, Jim Brennan, Tyler Hemming, Paulo Nagamura, Andrea Lombardo, Edson Buddle

2nd Half: Greg Sutton, (JP Piques 54), Adam Braz, Marco Reda, Andrew Boyens, Garfield Reid, Miguel Canizalez, Tyler Hemming (Andrea Lombardo 57), Richard Asante, Hector Hurtado, Junaid Hartley, Hunter West
