Mexico Wins U-20 Group B

February 26, 2007
The U-20 Mexican side drew one all to the Costa Rican U-20 side, however, this draw gave Mexico the Group B title.  Both teams finished with the same record of two wins and a draw, however, the Mexican side won on goal differential.  Although Mexico won, Costa Rica would not walk away empty handed as both teams clinched the last remaining spots in the U-20 World Cup to be played in Canada this summer.  Both sides defeated the Jamaican Reggae Boyz, and St. Kitts & Nevins U-20 sides.  Mexico and Costa Rica will join the US and Panama U-20’s as representatives from CONCACAF.

The full list of qualified teams is as follows:

Host: Canada
AFC: Japan, Jordan, Korea DPR, Korea Republic
CAF: Congo, Gambia, Nigeria, Zambia
CONCACAF: Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, United States
CONMEBOL: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay
OFC: New Zealand
UEFA: Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Scotland

The official draw will be held on Saturday March third.  Results of the draw will be posted as soon as they’re available.
